QCC is usually held at the Arlington Central Library on the first floor in one of the rooms closest to the 10th street entrance. There are about 16-20 seats and can accommodate for most disabilities.
Masks are highly encouraged and provided, but not currently enforced.
Coloring supplies are provided, including coloring sheets that alternate each meeting, and crayons, colored pencils, markers, and gel pens. Of course, you are free to bring your own supplies!
Name tags are provided where you can display your name and pronouns for the group to get to know you.
New attendees come every month, although there are some regulars that we love to see!
You are free to arrive at any time between the posted time range but please be aware that we have a strict leave time and must close up by the posted end time.
The average age range is mid 20s to mid 30s but all are welcome!
QCC has hosted monthly coloring events for adults since June 2024, where you can drop in any time during the event time and color with new friends! Starting in July 2025, QCC will also host "Crayons Optional" events, which are more casual hangouts where you might not get space to color but gives folks an opportunity to meet up without some of the space constraints of hosting an organized event.
Currently, the Queer Crayon Club is limited to adults. While we understand that coloring isn't limited to adults and this group may be appealing to the minor LBGTQ+ population in the D.C. metro area, QCC is first and foremost designed to provide a safe space for queer adults to build community during a time where it is essential to connect, and third spaces are few and far between. In addition, we consider the safety of our youth and want to protect them from harm by ensuring they have access to youth-only spaces, which we cannot currently accommodate.
Queer Crayon Club events will always be free to those who don't have the financial means to pay for a social event. However, all QCC events have an optional recommended payment for those who believe in our mission and want us to continue to provide services for the community. Make sure to read the description of each event you plan to attend for more information.
QCC is currently organized by one person on a volunteer basis and wants every event to have equal quality through preparation. By RSVPing (and updating it if you can't come!), you help them get an idea on how to prepare for each meetup.
QCC currently has an invite-only Discord channel. Please DM the Instagram account or check your Partiful invite for the link.
